1. Environmental factors
Temperature: Long-term exposure to high temperature will accelerate the movement of PTFE molecular chains, causing it to gradually lose its original performance. When the temperature is close to the melting point of PTFE (327°C), the breathable membrane will soften and deform, affecting its normal use. In a low temperature environment, Ptfe Vent Membrane may become brittle, reduce toughness, and easily crack.
Humidity: A high humidity environment may cause moisture to be adsorbed on the surface of Ptfe Vent Membrane. Although PTFE itself is waterproof, moisture may penetrate into the microporous structure of the membrane in a humid environment for a long time, affecting its breathability and accelerating the aging of the membrane surface.
Chemical substances: If Ptfe Vent Membrane comes into contact with strong oxidants, strong acids, strong alkalis and other chemicals, it may react chemically with PTFE, destroying its molecular structure and thus shortening its service life.
2. Conditions of use
Mechanical stress: During use, if the Ptfe Vent Membrane is subjected to mechanical stress such as stretching, extrusion, and friction, the internal structure of the membrane may be damaged, and micropores may be deformed or ruptured, reducing its air permeability and waterproof performance, thereby affecting its service life.
Air permeability: If the membrane is used for a long time with a maximum air permeability exceeding the designed maximum air permeability, the microporous structure of the membrane will be subjected to excessive pressure, accelerating the expansion and deformation of the micropores, and causing the membrane to fail prematurely.
3. Product quality
Raw material quality: The purity and molecular weight distribution of PTFE resin will affect the performance and service life of the breathable membrane. The breathable membrane made of PTFE resin with high purity and uniform molecular weight distribution has better stability and durability.
Processing technology: The processing technology in the production process is also crucial. If the sintering temperature and time are not properly controlled, the PTFE molecules may not be fully crystallized, making the performance of the breathable membrane unstable, and problems may occur during use, shortening the service life.
